Sibyl's Terms and Conditions

We believe care includes transparency. These Terms outline how Sibyl is intended to be used and the responsibilities we each have.

1. Who We Are

Sibyl is operated by Sibyl Care B.V., a company registered in the Netherlands (Bergweg 265a, 3037EM Rotterdam).

2. Who Can Use Sibyl

You must be 18 years or older to use Sibyl.

By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. What Sibyl Is (and Is Not)

Sibyl is designed to offer:

  • Emotional support and reflective prompts

  • Guided journaling tools

  • Informational content developed with clinical input, covering pregnancy loss and reproductive health

  • Support across the full experience: acute loss, medical management, return to work, and pregnancy after loss

Sibyl is a non-clinical emotional support tool. It is not a medical, psychological, or therapeutic service, and does not constitute a treatment relationship of any kind. Using Sibyl does not create a duty of care equivalent to that of a clinical provider, and Sibyl is not a crisis service.

Sibyl does not provide diagnosis, treatment, or professional advice. You should not rely on Sibyl for medical, mental health, or emergency decisions.

4. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Sibyl uses artificial intelligence (AI) to generate responses and personalised prompts. Sibyl’s AI is powered by Anthropic’s Claude.

  • You are interacting with an AI system, not a human

  • AI responses may be imperfect or incomplete

  • AI content is supportive and informational only

Session review

Every session is automatically reviewed by a second AI model within 24 hours to assess quality and safety. This review is conducted on anonymised content — it is never linked to your identity. Human or expert review is only triggered where the AI model flags a genuine issue, and always takes place without any user identifier attached. Findings are used solely to improve Sibyl’s safety framework.

Anthropic will not use your conversations with Sibyl to train or improve AI models. This is contractually binding in our agreement with Anthropic.

5. Your Safety and Responsibility

You are responsible for how you use the App and how you interpret and act on information provided by Sibyl.

If you have medical or mental health concerns, please seek help from a qualified professional.

If you feel unsafe or in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis support line immediately. If you express thoughts of self-harm or suicidal ideation in Sibyl, your chat session will be temporarily paused. Sibyl will direct you to relevant local crisis resources. This is a deliberate safety feature, not a clinical intervention. Paused sessions are reviewed within 24 hours; if the activation is confirmed as a false positive, your chat will be re-enabled. If your session is paused and you believe this was an error, you can contact us at support@sibyl.care.

6. Accounts and Security

If you create an account:

  • Keep your login details secure

  • You are responsible for activity under your account

Contact us immediately at support@sibyl.care if you believe your account has been compromised.

  1. Subscriptions and Billing

Sibyl offers optional paid subscriptions providing full access to the App's features, available as monthly, 3-month, and 6-month plans. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store using the payment method linked to your Apple ID.

Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.

Managing or Cancelling Your Subscription: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your device). Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period.

Refunds: Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and subject to Apple's refund policies. We are unable to directly process refunds for App Store purchases. To request one, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or contact Apple Support.

Price Changes: If we change subscription pricing, we will provide notice in accordance with Apple's requirements before any change takes effect for existing subscribers.

Subscription Management Provider: We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage subscription status and validate purchases on our behalf. RevenueCat does not receive health-related data, journaling content, or your conversations with Sibyl. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for unlawful purposes

  • Attempt to misuse, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the App

  • Use Sibyl in a way that could harm others or the system

  • Deliberately attempt to circumvent or manipulate Sibyl’s safety features

9. App Availability and Changes

Sibyl is a growing product. We are continuously improving the experience, which means:

  • Features may be updated, added, or changed over time

  • The App may occasionally contain bugs or be temporarily unavailable

  • We may update or discontinue parts of the App at any time

We will notify you of major changes through the App or by email.

10. Intellectual Property

All rights to the App, including content, software, and branding, belong to Sibyl Care B.V. or its licensors.

You keep full ownership of the personal content you submit, such as your journal entries. We will never use your personal content for any purpose beyond delivering the service to you.

11. Privacy and Data Deletion

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data. By using Sibyl, you agree to that policy.

You can request deletion of all your personal data at any time by emailing support@sibyl.care. We will process your request within 30 days. We make this option easy to find and remind you of it regularly within the App.

12. Limitation of Liability

Sibyl is a non-clinical support tool with a clearly defined scope. By using the App, you acknowledge that:

  • Sibyl is provided “as is”

  • We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or always available

  • We are not responsible for outcomes resulting from your use of the App

  • Sibyl does not constitute a treatment relationship and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care

Billing and payment for subscriptions are processed by Apple and our subscription management provider; we are not responsible for billing errors, payment failures, or disputes arising from Apple's payment systems

We are not liable for any delay or failure to provide access to paid features resulting from issues with the App Store, your payment method, or third-party subscription processing

Disputes regarding charges, refunds, or billing should be directed to Apple in the first instance, in accordance with Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions

Nothing in these Terms limits rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws.

13. Ending Your Use

You may stop using Sibyl at any time. If you would like to delete your account and all associated data, contact support@sibyl.care.

We may suspend or terminate access if:

  • These Terms are violated

  • Required by law

  • Necessary to protect users or the system

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the App or by email. Continued use of the App means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Dutch courts.
